Roadskater.net Skate & Bike Jersey Order Form

This Year's Mystery Color $44 plus s&h; Classic Colors $54 plus s&h

Current order deadline: 8PM EDT WEDNESDAY JULY 29 2015. Refunds Complete. Working on building a new mystery!
We will be back with a slight redesign that reflects our original design ideas, with our logo providing those swirls in the background.
Always treat this order like it is the last chance you will ever have! It may be. For classic colors, it may be gone. Let's hope not.
NOTE: We always loved the jerseys, but since 2008 we have actively not recommended you deal with the manufacturer, as the customer experience for an existing customer grew worse each year. We stayed until we could no longer get a consistent design for all sizes and genders.

Historic notes from this year, and how we ended up refunding and looking for a new manufacturer.
All photos show how the classic (club fit, what we call OMG, or "Original More Generous") jersey looked up to 2014. The overall look will be very similar, but for the OMG, going forward we will likely be using a raglan design, at least for now. The Women's Trim Fit (WTF), was already a raglan style with no complaints for some years.

This year: The manufacturer forced us to switch from "set-in" (single seam along the shoulder, also called "inset") to raglan (single seam under the shoulder, joining the neckline in two places, front and back), then they put further limitations on our order which would mean the larger size jerseys would have the art from the smallest size. All this after assurances otherwise. This became unacceptable, so I refunded everyone's money and left the mf'er (manufacturer) alone.

"SHUT UP AND LET ME ORDER!" * "OK. But read some of the stuff below!...
Wait. Deadline over. Refunds complete after mf'er went back on their word."

2015 Mystery Jersey Project Questions & Answers

  • Deadlines: We need orders in by MIDNIGHT EDT TUESDAY JULY 28. I'll get more time if I can but let's expect not to have it. We do need to make minimums so your order matters. If your only problem is a delay in when your money can be in, let me know.
  • Commitments: This year, we want to get the design right. We want these by Tanglewood (Sep 19) if we can get them, but even if not, we need to get the best design we can, so NO PROMISES on the delivery date. Having said that, we'll get them by important dates if we can (T2T, A2A, CC). There's no reason to think we can't get them by T2T...just sayin', disclaimin' so I can sleep at night.
  • What's Set-In? Set-in is how we've done our OMG Classic shortsleeved jerseys for 10 seasons. It's a nice trim look with a seam across the top of the shoulders. It gives more room for the logos to not be crowded or shoved inward and downward as well, making the swirl nice and big and bold regardless of the jersey color. We love it.
  • What's Raglan? Raglan is what some prefer, including many pro teams (since you can run advertising/sponsor text instead of a seam along the line of the shoulder). Many say that raglan is a more "forgiving" style that fits more people better. (I'd say that depends on other factors, such as the waist, as well.) It's also less complicated sewing, perhaps? Regardless, it can be done really well, and there are tons of great looking raglan jerseys out there (check out the Tour de France pro teams). Our jersey's going to look good no matter how it's sewn, if you like how it tends to look, that is! We may have to adjust where some minor logos go, or even change or remove them to make it work. We'll see. But the goad is to make it fit in with those that already exist, without being mistaken for the others in the color department.
  • What's the big deal? For many or most, it's no big deal. We've held them off from switching us to raglan because our goal all along was to have a consistent style with variable colors.
  • To keep the mystery jersey alive this year, we're going to give raglan a chance. It's too late to work with someone new, and this preserves some really fine things we like about the jerseys...how they look, feel, and perform.
  • The yearly mystery color disclaimer (or colors, if you prefer to think of it that way, as there are always at least four colors). Colors will be chosen with raglan in mind. However, as I always say, the color may be shades of one color, or several colors, and it may be ugly, or maybe not. But it will be a visible-on-the-road design and will echo the colors of nature (which I guess is pretty much every color). But it's not a mystery if it feels too safe, right? It could be very different, or not so much! Just decide if you trust me, and if you hate it, BEFORE YOU OPEN THE BAG AND BEFORE YOU MAIL IT BACK, email me and I'll try to find someone to adopt it. No promises, but I'll try. Usually this works.
  • Why not go elsewhere for jerseys? Maybe we will, but we may keep getting these even if we do others. We've stayed with this manufacturer (hereafter known as "the mf'er") out of loyalty to the design, fabric (ha! which also changed, but the grid fabric has a nice subtle sheen to it and it is airy when you weary), the set-in style, the durability...and supersweet zipper!
  • Why no classic colors this year? If we can get the classic jerseys in the original style one last time, we'd like to offer that! We'll give it a try with raglan and have something distinctive to show for it, either way. Then we can decide if there's demand for classic colors in the new sewing design. For now, simple is good.
  • What can I do to help? Order a jersey if you can! Also, if you'd like to order classic colors in the set-in style later, send me a note stating how many you would be likely to buy of the set-in style classic jerseys if we can talk the mf'er into taking our money for a later order. Further, recommend other jersey makers if you have actually worked with them to the point of knowing their pricing and communication abilities.
  • Just curious: What was the 2014 color? Raspberry Plum (but you don't have to act like a tart to wear it).
  • Stylish, comfortable, functional skateybikeywear, inline skating, rollerblading, skateboarding, longboarding, cycling, biking jerseys.
  • Women's Trim Fit (WTF!) and "club" fit Original More Generous (OMG!) sizing.

OMG Original More Generous (Club Fit) and WTF (Women's Trim Fit) Inline Skating and Cycling Jerseys

These notes remain as a guide to the project, sizing, styles and the mystery. Remember, you can order Classic Colors, short or no sleeves, club or women's fit.

I am feeling ever more confident about the appeal of this year's model as I work through options! Paid orders are at 30. I do not plan to order any extras. I really wanted to be able to trim the cost a bit for the mystery jersey. We're OK, but every order helps us with future pricing. Also, remember that ordering a Classic Color helps make the mystery jersey possible! If you know you want to commit to a jersey but need a few more days to get the money, please let me know ASAP.

If you order the mystery jersey and don't like the color, just don't open it, and let me know. We'll do our best to find a happy buyer and when we do, you'll get your money back (minus the actual shipping costs, if any). Please note that while this almost always works out, there are times where we can't place orphaned size/style/color combos, so the $10 off is to reward the risk.

OMG is the original more generous (or perhaps "ooh! muy guapo/guapa") more commonly and boringly called club fit, and WTF is the women's trim fit, which is not just for women, necessarily. More information, including sizing hints, to come. WTF has smaller arm holes, is slightly shorter, and has a more slender, curvy fit.

The mystery color is a mystery...even to me as I write this. I have several more risky choices and a safe choice or two ready to go, and I usually decide at the very last minute based on instinct and inspiration. But we won't know everything until colors permeate the fabric and I hear from the fabric printers that they can really make it look like we thought. And because this is mostly done on computers with varying screen qualities, I really won't know until it arrives on my doorstep exactly how it will look.

Note that the photos below are of the club fit OMG original. We also offer the WTF Women's Trim Fit, which (as noted) is shorter, tighter under the arms, and has a leaner shape. For the smaller arm holes alone, many women prefer this choice (and maybe some super fast skatey men?). Keep in mind that the OMG is not a race fit, but more like what you'd see among bicycle clubs, charity ride jerseys, and the like.

The above photo, taken in full late afternoon sun about two hours before sundown, shows the rich colors in the more yellow light of sunshine. The swirl patterns are subtle in this view, as the jerseys are laid out facing the sky instead of vertically, and thus, the semi gloss sheen of the fabric is softly reflecting light from behind the camera, which is above the jerseys.

The above photo intentionally includes a shadow to illustrate how the colors look with light from behind (or above when wearing), and also to give an idea of how it looks in shade that is not the very late day bluer light. This photo shows the swirl patterns better and that's why I include it. In person, the swirls are noticeable, but subtle.

The above photo shows the nice sheen of the fabric, which is not a slick look at all, but a soft matte diffused reflection. You'll seldom notice it, but it is part of what makes the jersey look great. In this photo the light is in front of the camera, even though this is in shade, so skylight is rippling off the soft folds of the fabric.

The above photo is mainly to show the supersweet 19" zipper. You can keep really cool without losing the ends of the zipper as you might with a full zip. The supersweet zip also makes it easier to get the jersey on and off, especially on those hot days. I didn't doctor the photos at all, but these are a bit contrasty. You can see from the lay of the fabric that it is really supple when dry, and is comfortable wet and dry...more comfortable than any fabric on any of the other jerseys I have worn. Of course I am biased, but this is how many people feel about it.

I really love the fabric and I had some other important goals or we might have gone elsewhere with some of the challenges we've had, but these are...

  • comfortable
  • visible without being ugly
  • durable without being scratchy
  • dark where likely to stain under the arms and on the folded edges of fabric that touch skin
  • a consistent design with varied colors
  • affordable relative to the cost of first quality specialty gear

Now, thanks to changes in production capabilities, we can keep building the mystery, but for those who missed out on or crashed in a favorite classic color, we can get that too. So grab some comfy color to keep you visible and cool on the roads and trails as we roll for the good of others...and ourselves.

The OMG is the original club fit jersey we've offered since 2005. This year all styles sport small Carolina Century logos as well, and the layout should be very similar if not exactly like the 2010 special edition jersey.

THE USUAL PAY UP FRONT WITH LIMITED MONEY BACK OFFER

I give the mystery jersey buyers a help-you-sell-it offer where if you don't like the jersey and don't wear it and want to sell it, I will help do that. It may take a while but I've never had a jersey that didn't sell, and I've had very few to sell because people seem to like them...and if they don't someone else does who was too skeered to build the mystery. So my offer is not a money-back from me offer, but a money back eventually from someone we find offer...I'll help find someone who'll buy it and then to give you the money or better yet, have them deal with you directly.

You Do NOT have to be a member of PayPal to use Paypal to pay

What's good about it is I never know your account information so I can't lose it or trash it on a post-it in a trash can some guy on the street gets hold of so he can become you for awhile. We get the deal done easily and I can pay electronically, plus all the orders go in as they came in so it helps get the orders right in the first place.

SUPERSWEET 19" ZIPPER, SUPERSOFT WICKING FABRIC

In the early days we had to decide about paying extra for the zipper, and which fabric to use. We definitely wanted the supersweet 19" zipper and we've always been glad. It gives great temperature control and makes it easier to take off the jersey over a helmet or not. We went with a wicking fabric but one that is durable and very comfortable, rather than the thinnest material that tears easily, or the awful hot and itchy stuff many jerseys incorporate. Even when I have had issues with the MF'ER or their minion, the zipper and fabric and the fact these are made in North America have been important factors, even worth a bit more, since we're not doubling prices like most do. The mystery color project is designed to neither lose nor make money over the years. The special edition reprints don't have that constraint, but there won't be much profit and it'll all go to making Roadskater.net and Carolina Century continue the best I can keep them going.

OMG ROAD CLASSIC CLUB FIT OFFICIAL SIZE CHART BUT SEE NOTES BELOW TABLE*

In general, the 2010 jerseys fit somewhere between the extra roomy 2008 models and the trimmer 2005-2007 ones. I believe it is a bit trimmer than 2009, which was a bit trimmer than 2008. The sleeves (if you get them) are a bit longer than early styles, but this looks good and feels good too. Others opinions may vary, but remember that some of the old jerseys have been washed many times in varying conditions.

The NO sleeve sleeveLESS has been trimmed at least as much as in the 2009's Crape Myrtle HOT MAGENTA edition). The Sky edition was slightly roomy too, I believe, but this could just be my jersies, and due to washing (use cold) or drying (don't do it other than hang drying in my opinion).

The OMG original "road classic" jerseys have sizes about like dri-fit or active-fit jerseys you find at discount and specialty stores but not the Under Armour stuff. Another way of saying it is they are "club fit" (for riders and skaters of the local club proportions) rather than "race fit" (for the greyhounds of cycling and skating who get paid and get free jerseys and bibs and skinsuits anyway). They size about like the Tour to Tanglewood jerseys,  except for the awesome but confusingly sized white with red trim of a few years back, which was race fit, not club fit.

The Original More Generous Jersey OMG! You Know You Want Some!

This is the classic roadskater roadcyclist jersey in roomy club fit. This is the 2010 design (with modifications in some of the small logos and a few minor other tweaks perhaps) with the much-loved set-in sleeves (made like a dress shirt or a tee with a seam along the shoulder). We very much prefer the set-in sleeves because we think they look and feel better.

The sleeveless 2010 NO Sleeve shoulder seam length is trimmed shorter like we like it, unlike the 2009 and 2008 cut patterns. Getting these things right were prerequisites for me being willing to produce more. I have to say all styles and sleeves were excellent this year. So if you like a color from the past, you can now get a jersey in the classic fit in both short and no sleeve with fit and layout and cut that I am truly 100% happy with.

The 2010 Sunflower edition was a big hit for color and fit in all versions. It was back to being as good as 2005-2007 in every way I thought, but bolder with better use of the black & white and spot color and some more direct lines to edge the bold colors with black & white Roadskater.net motifs. Some women chose to try the WTF (SEE BELOW) and every one of them seemed very pleased. The women who stuck with the comfortable classic OMG seemed happy too. I had no returns from anyone in any style, with one person who wanted to trade for size but wanted to trade, not sell, if possible. Being back to set-in sleeves was part of this happiness, I believe, and that makes my life a lot more peaceful because really I want people to love these jerseys!

I wouldn't be offering or buying these jerseys myself if I didn't think they are awesome. I'd just let it go and be done with the hassle. But I love the jerseys and love to see them out skating. Thank you for trusting me with your orders and for wearing the jerseys! I don't know how many I'll buy this time but I want to get some of the colors done the right way with strong logos and spot color. I think some will want the WTF in their fave colors or to replace ones damaged by asphalt...or pizza...or to tighten up the loose fit a bit and wear something shaped like them!

OMG NO SLEEVE (SLEEVELESS) v3.0 TRIM AGAIN

SleeveLESS is available and they have been trimmed up a bit based on our input. I was pleased in 2010 and think most were happy with a shorter shoulder seam length! Again, getting this right was important to my feeling good about offering these special order reprints! There is no way we would proliferate floppy shoulders in the NO Sleeve SleeveLESS version. This ain't no pickup basketball game, and we have basketball jerseys for that anyway.

So I've waited five years to feel good about everything enough to offer special limited edition reprints without the mystery. I'll probably get some so I can get the great new cut and layout in colors that had logo sizes that don't work so well on a gravitationally gifted skater like me. Yes I may be getting hot magenta with a bold RSN logo instead of a wimpy one halfway down my back!

Roadskater.net jerseys are a premium version of the standard 3-pocket cycling and road skating kit, but have much nicer, more comfortable and durable wicking fabric and the supersweet 19" zipper for better body temperature control and easier doffing and donning).

MEN'S AND WOMEN'S UNISEX ROAD CLASSIC FIT CHART (BUT SEE OUR SIZE NOTES BELOW TABLE*)

SIZE XSSMLXLXXLXXXL
CHEST 34"-36"37"-39"40"-42"43"-45"46"-48"49"-51"52"-54"
WAIST 29"32"-34"34"-36"36"-38"38"-40"40"-42"42"-44"

* About the OMG ORIGINAL MORE GENEROUS ROAD CLASSIC (NOT the Women's fit), please note the dropdown boxes we used to use in the order forms are different from the chart above. It's up to you, but the sizes should be more like this in our opinion (and if you use the chart above, definitely pay attention to the waist sizes, as they can be especially important early in the spring!). We think the sizes run somewhat like this for chest size:

  • omg XS 33-35 inch chest
  • omg S 35-37 inch chest
  • omg M 36-39 inch chest
  • omg L 40-42 inch chest
  • omg XL 42-44 inch chest
  • omg 2XL 44-46 inch chest
  • omg 3XL 46-49 inch chest
  • omg 4XL 49+ inch chest

We think we know their sizes better than they do, but this is open for discussion, and we don't all agree on everything of course. They are promised to be the same in size and cut as last year's edition, if that helps you, but these are made by humans, so subject to variation, and whenever salespeople are involved, well you know what can happen.

Sizes in the order form are suggestions at this point, but I trust these numbers more than the ones I saw on the ROAD CLASSIC sizing chart for the mf'er. But you decide. I measured my chest at 42" and I'm sure I do not want to go down to the L size, and there's no way I'd even ruin an M by trying to put it on, so I will stay with the XL Even if I didn't need much room around the midsection, I'd still want XL I believe. I can see how a person with a 42" chest and slimmer midriff WHO LIKES THINGS SNUG would want L BUT IN GENERAL IF YOU ARE ON THE LINE, SUGGEST YOU GET THE LARGER SIZE...then abuse it a bit to shrink it if you need to, or put out the word for a swap. Still, you know when you weigh more and less and when you'll be wearing the jersey.

The WTF is the Women's Trim Fit version of our jersey, and it has been a big hit with many who never quite fit the OMG version.

GET THE POPULAR WOMEN'S TRIM FIT (WTF) INLINE SKATING CYCLING JERSEY IN ANY OF THE PREVIOUS COLOR SCHEMES

In response to requests from several female skaters we experimented with offering a women's cut jersey this year. It was a definite hit. So this women's specialty fit sounds like it might be right for some to give it a try! According to the manufacturer (hereafter referred to as "the mf'er"), this is a shorter jersey with smaller arm holes and slightly shorter short sleeves. The size chart below is based on the manufacturer's information.

The WTF is awesome. Some of my most particular skateyfriends are especially thrilled with thier WTF RSN jersey.

Women's Trim Fit Jersey WTF Get It, Get It, Get It!

This is the super popular trim style that perhaps even some of you skatey gents might like to try. Unlike the 2008 and 2009 sleeveless classic that left shorter or slimmer (or both) women with extra material where they didn't need it, and none where they'd like a bit more for modesty's sake on the road, the 2010 WTF had no returns and nothing but positives from the brave femmes who gave it a try the first time offered sight unseen.

Don't get me wrong, I have every edition of the Roadskater.net jersey and in sleeveless and short sleeves, and I wear all of them. I know little things about some of them that I don't like so much, and I was disappointed in the 2008 sleeveless pattern, and the 2009 looked good in smaller sizes, but the mf'er didn't take much care that year to do additional artwork required to make the larger sizes look good. So 2010 was a big year and I pressed hard early on to find out if I could reach someone who would know more than me about their product, and actually care how it came out.

We got that this year, and the results were exciting, and I felt confident enough to even add a new women's design, something I never felt comfortable adding to the mix earlier because of other problems.

But now I am thrilled to say come and get it! The RSN logo will be big and bold no matter what color you stir it in, and that is the way it should be! Always was! Balance the strong and the beautiful!

If you like the previous road classic sizing and relaxed fit, stick with that, I'd say. The supersoft wicking fabric and supersweet 19" zipper are the same that we've always had and these are key components that go into making the Roadskater.net great enough to keep ordering year after year. Like the OMG CLASSIC, the WTF has 3 pockets on the lower back of the jersey like all we've ordered since we began in 2005.

Ordering is open to all sizes of course. Here's a WOMEN'S SPECIALTY FIT CHART and this chart is NOT for the OMG Original More Generous classic club fit we've been using. Please note that I am also going to set XS as the smallest size for the OMG jerseys. Women who might order XS and even larger sizes in Classic OMG should consider ordering the Women's fit I think, especially if you like a trimmer midsection fit. You can get SHORT sleeves or NO sleeves as with the other jerseys. The WTF was a huge hit among all who ordered it, and women who ordered the classic OMG jersey were equally happy this year...it was a good year for ordering!

NOT SURE BETWEEN SHORT SLEEVE AND NO SLEEVE SLEEVELESS?

Some ask which sleeve style I and others like among the Roadskater.net jerseys. If I were going to get just one jersey, I'd likely get the short sleeved, since it has more fabric and thus more decoration, and it can be used in winter with arm warmers with no gaps, and in summer with sleeves rolled under (they stay up better if rolled under rather than over). I wear the sleeveless often in late May through August, but sometimes I wear the short sleeved if there's a cool early morning rollout, and later in the day when it gets hot, I roll the sleeves under. I think sizing is more forgiving with short sleeves too.

But it's hard to deny that on a really smokin' hot humid day, the NO sleeve sleeveless are awesome. Others covet the sleeveless since there are not so many skating or cycling jerseys available that way. I can't imagine not having a handful of each available, but still, if I could get only one, I'd lean toward the SHORT sleeved version.

WTF (Women's Trim Fit) vs. OMG Original Club Fit Photos

Here are some photos of my new (last year) Women's Trim Fit jerseys along side the Original Club Fit jerseys from the original years, one with sleeves, one sleeveless. You can see the biggest difference in the waist/hip area. The WTF is smaller because it sits on the waist (but there's also plenty of material in the back for the pockets). The arm holes are also much smaller in the WTF. These are all size Large.

Colors Made Richer in 2010

These photos show that while the darkest shade of the color is the same as always, the lighter shades were made slightly richer starting with the 2010 special prints. This change is subtle in person and I've never noticed the difference when skating or standing around, but the idea was to give a bit stronger, more vibant color to the pastel sections, and to blend the swirls a bit, all while staying true to the original color mix. Having said all that, the original 2005 periwinkle sky blue jerseys have not faded and are still among my favorites to wear. It's pretty impressive, really, how well they've kept their color. Thanks for making the effort on this, eebee!

* Classic colors saturation subtly altered in some cases for slightly more vibrant tones or mild contrast improvement.
